Words!
There have been a lot of pictures lately without my fabulous accompanying prose. No excuse, it's just how things have worked out. We did indeed have lots of visitors over the summer, and it's been an exciting time developmentally speaking It seems like Michael learns something new every day (and he probably does).
So what is life like with the 2-year-old Michael? Well...it seems there are new words added to his vocabulary all the time. So far, we haven't heard any words that a two-year-old shouldn't say, but I am sure that is just a matter of time. He really, really loves to throw things, and the very best things to throw (apparently) are things that Drew and I would rather not see flung across the room: toy trains, train tracks, books...we are working on improving that. He is extremely charming, and as evidenced by the video Drew posted a few weeks ago, he seems to have a pretty good crush on his friend Tess, or at least he really, really enjoys watching the video of them together.
Well, I would love to write more (and I will, I promise), but he and Drew just came home and I hear something that sounds rather angsty going on, so rather than leave you speechless (see what I did there?) for another prolonged period, I'll go ahead and post this update and hope that I post more in the not-too-distant future.

We kept things low key this year, just having some cake when some friends were over for dinner. Click on image for a larger view.
With thanks to Victor for the Candle Light image.

I told you it would be busy...
OK...you can't say I didn't warn you. In my last post on May 31, I told you it was going to be a busy summer, and indeed it has been. It's been so busy, that I haven't had a chance to write until now.
I wanted to take a few minutes to add a little context to the pictures that we posted since I last wrote. I meant to post some pictures of the fun that was had while Drew was at his workshop in Italy, but the pictures all live on my phone and I haven't gotten around to it yet. They are all on Facebook, and I think most of you are also connected to us there, so if you've seen them there, you've seen all there is to see.
Now for the pictures posted here: Sam is my BFF Lisa's son. I held him when he was six weeks old, and now he is 19 and fresh out of his freshman year at Brandeis. He and a friend spent a couple months touring around the Western US this summer, and he was gracious enough to come over for dinner one night so we could feed him and have him pose with our child.
The other fabulous people are Drew's sister Deborah and her family -- wife Sarah and son Solomon. They came and stayed with us for about a week at the beginning of July. We had a great time, and Solomon and Michael had fun bonding, as I think is evident from the video of them being big goofballs in the back seat of the car.
Next up on the docket is my parents, who will be coming out in mid-August to celebrate my dad's birthday. I'm sure there will be more pictures, and likely more verbiage after that visit, so hopefully you can contain yourselves until then.

A visit from Sam
No room at the inn...
It's going to be a busy summer here at Chez Sherman with lots of visitors, and we started things off weekend before last with a visit from the Roberts cousins -- George, Mary and their daughters Monica and Susan. They were in town for the Maker Faire (if you ever have any questions about 3-D printers, George is your guy), and we were lucky enough to get some time on their busy schedule. Michael and Rufus both got some much needed attention (because of course no one ever pays attention to either of them), and we got to get some more use out of the ice cream maker.
Last weekend brought our friends Rob and Cindy from Seattle. Rob and Drew spent the weekend at Kubla Con, which is a gaming convention that takes place every year around this time. Cindy, Michael, and I pretty much laid low. We had other plans, but Michael was a little under the weather, so we had to respect that. We did have time to do the required visitor portrait -- see below.
And now we take a breather for a bit. Next up -- Drew is off to Italy, and I will have a couple of visitors (my sister Marti and BFF Lisa Marcus) to help keep me (and Michael) sane while he is gone. I won't be able to take the professional-looking portraits like Drew does, but I will try to take some photos.

We're adding words to the pictures!
Greetings everyone!
As the originator and administrator of this blog, Drew has been diligently keeping you all entertained and sating your appetite for pictures and video of life at Chez Sherman with Michael in the mix.
But now, at long last, I will be joining the party and adding some (hopefully well chosen) words to go along with the visuals. As most of you probably know, I am not working a day job at the moment, so I have a little more time to actually write the occasional blog post. We will see how it goes once I rejoin the ranks of the gainfully employed, but for now, I am excited to add my voice to the Shernanigans, um...wingding! Oh yes, this should be fun...
